Working as an artist can often be a fairly solitary existence. Many hours of work in the studio can reduce the opportunity for interaction with other people, whether they be artists or art appreciators.
In November of 2022 I saw a Facebook post inviting artists to apply to be considered for Associate membership of Ayres House Art Studios in Wallingford Oxfordshire.
Ayres house is a lovely old period building that houses 14 studio spaces, where an eclectic group of artists work, creating diverse art in a variety of media. The building also houses exhibtion and teaching space.
I submitted an application and was delighted in January to be notified that my application had been successful.
I am now part of a small group of associate members, that meets up regularly to show ‘works in progress’, to swap ideas and to discuss forthcoming exhibition ideas.
I am looking forward to the year ahead, as we prepare (amongst other things) for the Associates exhibition at the end of June.
