New Chromacolour acrylic painting added to my Wildlife Paintings page.
Owls are undoubtedly one of my favourite bird families, and the Tawny Owl sits high on the list of preferred subjects.
As with a lot of my paintings, I have introduced a lot of weathered wood into this composition. The old farm building represents the sort of environment where you might see this bird, and the colours and marks in the wood mirror the plumage patterns of the owl. Using my acrylic paint in its most dilute form I build up the textures slowly by applying many layers of paint, until I achieve the finish and detail that I want.
