New Chromacolour acrylic painting featuring a Ringed Plover added to my Wildlife Paintings page.
I find myself irresistable ‘drawn’ to complex patterns and this pebble beach proved to be one of those tempting locations. The wildlife subject that seemed most appropriate was the diminutive Ringed Plover.
It is undoubtedly and exercise in extreme patience, with each pebble individually drawn and painted, starting at the top of the panel and gradually working down.
In order to create a sense of depth in the painting, the detail in the pebbles had to be gradually increased as I worked down the painting.
Although the composition is essentially a static one, I have attempted to introduce some movement by adding the rippling wave at the base of the painting.
