Back Home – Swallows

New Chromacolour acrylic painting featuring Barn Swallows added to my Wildlife Paintings page.

Whenever I encounter old buildings I can’t resist taking numerous photographs for future reference.

This particular building provided me with a wealth of tempting colours and textures, so my next decision was, which species to include in the composition.

The common name for the Swallow is actually the Barn Swallow, because of its preference for old buildings as its favoured nesting site. Many birds retrun to the same location year on year to build their nest and raise their young.

The arrival in spring of these wonderful aerial acrobats is always a cause for celebration. Once again they have arrived ‘Back Home’.
