Talks & Demonstrations

I am happy to visit art groups and societies to give talks (around 2 hours with a break mid way and a question and answer session at the end) about my drawing and painting techniques, which I illustrate with a step-by-step slide show of a drawing from initial idea to the finished piece.

I also teach day workshops where group members can learn new techniques in the use of Graphite Pencil, Coloured Pencil or Pastel.

I usually encourage members to bring along a subject sketch or photo that they are inspired by, or they can select an image from my extensive photo reference library. I consider it very important for each individual member to be working on a subject that they choose, rather than everyone working on a subject of my choice, because if they are inspired to draw a particular subject they are more likely to complete something that they can feel proud of.

At both the talks and demonstrations I bring along my art equipment to give members an insight into my own preferences and also ensure that I have a good selection of finished originals or prints available to view.
